Week 2 at Home

Mayson has had a busy week. We went last Saturday for his newborn pictures. He was wide awake and alert for the whole photo session. He would never fall asleep so we could get pictures on Daddy's and Mayson's hands and things. I can't wait for her to post them, when she does I will share with everyone. Grandma Hoskins came out on Thanksgiving and just left today. She was so excited to meet her third grandson.

Mayson also went to the doctor on Monday, he weight 9 pounds 11 ounces and was a little over 21 inches long. He was really due last Sunday, so we know what he would have probably looked like if he would have went full term.

It is so amazing how much he has changed over hte last few weeks. His hair is getting lighter, but it looks like his skin tone is staying like Daddy's.


Finally he was able to get that thumb in his mouth!

Mayson's First Week at Home

It has been the most amazing week ever, even with the lack of sleep and dirty diapers. Mayson has had a few vistors and will continue to have more over the next few weeks. Mike's mom came out last week, my mom is coming out tomorrow, my dad will be here next week, and then his dad will be out the following week. We will be traveling back to Carmi for a few weeks in December.

Mayson Reed Aslinger

Mayson Reed Aslinger was born at 12:53 pm on Friday, November 13th. He weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. He has dark hair like his daddy and a little dimple like his momma and daddy. We are so blessed to have a handsome healthy little boy.

37 Weeks

36 weeks

We went today for a growth ultrasound. She was not able to get a lot of good pictures because the baby was moving around so much and kicking the probe all the time. She said the baby is measuring around the 67th percentile, weighing in right now around 6 pounds 11 ounces. We had her take a full body shot so we have a picture of him or her for the scrapbook, it is tucked away in a sealed envelope sorry.

36 weeks

35 Weeks

I went to the doctor yesterday I was 35 weeks and 3 days. The baby's heart rate was 147 beats per minute, and I measured 34 inches. Measuring a little smaller than average, which is great still. Hopefully we won't have another almost 11 pound baby like Mike was :) We go on the 30th for our last ultrasound before we meet Baby Aslinger. Sorry we still aren't going to have them tell us, boy or girl.

34 weeks

We went tonight for our maternity pictures, they were so much fun. We took Sadie with us so she could be in some of the pictures. She was soo good. A little tuckered out now though, see her picture below. I went ahead and took our weekly picture today too. Not too much longer and I will be posting pictures of Baby Aslinger.

33 weeks

Mike got back from his weekend golf trip with his buddies in Illinois. It was a very long 5 days without him here. You can tell Sadie is such a daddy's girl, she whined around the house the whole time he was gone, and maybe I did a little too. I took Tuesday off so we could hang out and we were able to do a little shopping for Baby Aslinger. We went ahead and picked out a girl and boy outfit to bring him or her home in from the hospital. Mike did an excellent job picking out the outfits.

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 33 week appointment. After a little blood pressure scare on Monday, my blood pressure is back down to normal and looks great. Baby Aslinger's heart rate was 144 beats per minute. The doctor measured me and I'm measuring 31 1/2 inches at 33 1/2 weeks, which is really good considering we have been worried about having a big baby, since Mike was well over 10 pounds and I was very close to 9 pounds. I go back on the 21st and then I will be seeing her for my weekly appointments. We will be having another ultrasound around the 36 week mark to see how big he or she is and to get one last look before he or she joins us.

We are going Tuesday to have our maternity pictures done, I will be excited to have some new pictures not against the cream wall. So until then here is another black t-shirt photo. You can tell I am so excited to be having this picture taken.

32 weeks

Sorry to all of those who missed seeing my 31 week picture. It was so busy last week that I just didn't get a chance to take one. Yet another picture of me in this black t-shirt so that everyone can really see the changes in my growing belly. (Mike got a little closer on this one, I was so grateful)



Next week I will go back to the doctor, then hopefully she will schedule another ultrasound so we can see pictures of feet, hands, and the face. Still will not have any pictures showing or telling us if it is a little boy or girl, sorry. We also are having maternity pictures done next week, so there will be a little variety, maybe something besides the standing sideways with a black t-shirt up against a wall :)

31 weeks

It has been such a busy week. I went for my 31 week appointment on Wednesday. The baby's heart rate was 142 beats per minute, and I measured around 30 1/2 inches. So hopefully that means he or she isn't going to be a big as Mike and I were. We got our crib and changing table (thank you Grandma Susan), and Mike put it together this week. We don't having any bedding yet, so when we get the bedding I will take pictures so everyone can see. We are starting to feel more prepared. We got our pack and play, (thank you Jill and Aunt Cindy), our swing (thank you Uncle Ryan, Aunt Michelle, Gabe, Uncle Nick, Aunt Lori, and Adam), and Uncle Aaron and Aunt Sarah sent us the little bathtub and bath soaps and toys. So right now we will have a clean baby, who can be calmed down by the swing, and has a place to sleep :) We also took our prepared child birth class last weekend. That was interesting for both Mike and I. We learned a lot about the procedures the hospitals do out here, they sure do have a lot of rules.

This week was Sadie's first birthday. I know funny we celebrated her birthday. Tonight she gets to go to PetsMart and get her birthday toy. They sent her a card in the mail, how cute :)

30 weeks

29 weeks

I went to the doctor today for my 29 week appointment. The heart beat was 142 beats per minute. I'm measuring right on track, and she says everything is going good. I start going every two weeks now, and in only ten short weeks or so we will have a baby :)

28 weeks

Adam Edward

My brother Nick and his wife Lori welcomed their first child to the world today, Adam Edward, weighed 9 pounds 2 ounces and 22.5 inches long. Can't wait for Christmas so Adam, Gabe, and our little one can meet.

The House

Mike and I were both on vacation the past week and were able to get so much done on the house. Mike and I painted the guest room and the baby's room and then we recuited some help. Nathan came out on Sunday and stayed through Tuesday to help us get our living room, kitchen, and dining room painted. We are starting to hang up art work and it is really stating to look like our home. I will post some pictures in the next week or so.

26 weeks

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 26 week appointment. She said everything looked great at my last ultrasound. She measured the heartrate yesterday and it was a little higher than it had been 160. She also measured me and I was around 25 1/2. Here is my 26 week picture.

25 weeks

Here is another update of my belly :)25 weeks, which is about 6.5 months. I am 5/8 of the way there.

Our First House

Mike and I closed on our first house on Friday. We have had an extremely busy weekend with moving and cleaning. We are so excited to be first time home buyers. Sadie is starting to adjust to the house. She is still sniffing it out to make sure she likes it. She is very unsure about the backyard, she doesn't much like going out there at night.
I have one more week of school left and Mike will be busy at home with a Honey Do list of all the things we would like to have done. We will post a few pictures once we get everything settled, but in order to see the whole house you will have to come and visit :)

Awesome Day!

We have had such an awesome day. Jodi and Aaron welcomed Jayden Charles into the world today at 1:06. He is a beautiful baby boy. This afternoon we went for our 22 week ultrasound. The baby was moving around and very active. The heartbeat was 143 beats per minute and he/she is weighing around 1 pound 1 ounce. They said everything looks great!

Busy Week

Mike and I have had such a busy week, it was my Birthday week. :) Between Mike, my famiy, my co-workers, and my students I had an awesome day.

We had our housing inspection on Thursday, the inspector said it is a great house. So we are just one step closer to it being our great house. We are still waiting for the appraisal, and then the fate of becoming first time home buyers lays in the FHA underwriter's hands. We are still planning on closing on July 28th, so if anyone has that week free and enjoys painting and moving, you are more than welcome to come visit. :)

I haven't updated anyone on our first addition to our family, Sadie. Sadie has had allergies all week. So, Mike had to take her to the vet to get some medicine for her red itchy eyes. She is almost full grown at a whopping 45 pounds. Sadie is such a funny dog. She thinks she is a human most of the time. She eats supper when we eat supper, plays basketball and sits on the couch like a human would. I took a picture yesterday of her. She is very interested in my belly. She sniffs and wants to lick my belly all the time. She is such a good dog.

We Got the House!

Our realtor called us this afternoon and told us the bank accepted our offer, so we are officially under contract. We are so excited about getting this house, it is everything we wanted in our first home. If everything goes as planned, we should be closing on July 27th.

Ultrasound

Today, we went for a anatomy ultrasound. It is a good thing we do not want to find out what we are having because baby was not wanting to cooperate. We were able to get a few good shots, but the baby was turned where we couldn't see the whole face, or the 4 chambers of the heart. Since, he or she was not wanting to be in the spotlight today, we will be going back in 4 weeks, July 24th, to try again. The heartbeat was once again 150 beats per minute and our little one is weighing 9 ounces, which is in the 45Th percentile. The pictures are a little blurry but you can see a few things.

16 week appointment

Today, I am 16 weeks and 4 days. I went for my 16 week appointment and everything looks good she said. The heart rate was 150, which is down from when we went at our 8 week appointment when it was 178. Leaning towards a boy with a heart rate like that? We will just have to use all the old wives tales to try to guess. We go for our 18 week appointment on June 26, but sorry we aren't going to find out if it is a boy or girl.

16 weeks

Everyone has been asking me for pictures of my ever so growing belly. Here is the first picture for all of you people who would like to track how fat I'm getting. As you can tell in the picture, I'm so excited to be having my picture taken. The paint color does nothing for my lovely farmers tan :)

I am 16 weeks here.

Our Special Surprise

Mike and I have been blessed with a special surprise. We are expecting a beautiful blessing on November 22nd, so that makes me about 14 weeks. We will not be finding out what we are having, we want to be surprised. So it will be lots of greens and yellows.

This has brought about many changes for us. We were planning on moving back to Southern Illinois this summer, however, we will be staying in Vegas for a little while longer. So I will do my best of keeping up this blog with pictures of the growing belly, ultrasound pictures, and pictures of the baby when he or she gets here.

We have been so blessed with such amazing families and friends. Thank you all for being so great.
